In May of 2002, I was walking across a parking lot in Lawrenceville when I happened to notice a small white face staring at me from underneath a thick hedge row. I said hello, and this tiny kitten actually came out to investigate me. This was a bold move, as I don’t think his aqua blue kitten eyes were fully functional at that time. Talk about an instant rapport, our friendship was cemented then and there!
Of course, I took him home to Monroe, as I have done with many critters in the past. Fortunately, my very understanding wife allowed us both to stay.
Today, Nelson is our most elder Statesman, and enjoys all the privileges of his rank. He eats first, gets lots of hands-on attention, and the younger cats are required to genuflect as he passes by.
Over the years he has been plagued by a few age related issues such as Arthritis and Diabetes, but careful attention to his meds along with the excellent care he receives from our friends at the Monroe Veterinary Clinic should keep him with us for a long time to come.
