We have all types of patients in all sizes, shapes and colors, but Maggie, or MagPie as her Mommy like to call her is one of our smallest senior patients weighing in at a whopping 4.4 pounds. This is Maggie’s story.

The Bullard family searched very hard to find the perfect pet to join their family, after a long search they came across a yorkie breeder in Commerce Georgia. Unknowingly the Bullard’s brought Maggie home with feline ringworm from the breeder, which required six months of treatment. Maggie is one sweet little girl but she has her share of medical concerns and conditions. In 2013 she was diagnosed with Syringohyfromylia. This is a term that describes fluid filled cavities that develop within the spinal cord which causes abnormal sensation in affected dogs. The underlying issue is caused by chiari-like malformation. Later in 2013 she was then diagnosed with Rhinitis. Even though Maggie requires lots of care she has a great personality. According to her Mommy “Maggie never meets a stranger. She loves children and has this little barking thing she does to let them know she wants to play. Maggie is one of the gentlest dogs I’ve had, such a super personality. She has her special spots and lets us know where she wants to be. Maggie’s favorite spot is in the window seat so she can watch over things and catch some rays! She loves to go on walks, but chasing “greenies” (the chameleons) is her favorite thing to do. Maggie is the leader of our little pack- Shelby and Tessa knows this without question.” Maggie turned eight this year, on February 6th and is doing well with all her issues. She receives acupuncture every three weeks and is doing very well with that. According to UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital Maggie’s life span will be shortened with the medical conditions that she has but she is still going strong. “Maggie is a special little girl and we will do ALL we can to help make sure she lives a VERY happy life” said Mrs. Bullard.

Maggie’s family left us with this last thought “To be able to care for such a sweet little yorkie like Maggie gives me purpose. Her adorable smile in the mornings at snuggle time, the look in those loving eyes when she needs something but all the hugs and kisses let me know she loves me and that’s as special as can be!”

Testimonial

I've been a customer for over thirty-five years. They have always taken loving care of our animals and of us. I can't thank them enough for all the help they have given us and our pets. They have the most knowledgeable techs I have seen anywhere, so you can count on them to do everything the right way. And, their groomers are wonderful
